Telecommuting is more common among employees over 35 years of age and most common among baby boomers. 80 percent of employers plan to  increase their flexible workforce. 50% of the U.S. workforce holds a job that is compatible with at least partial telework and approximately 20-25% of the workforce teleworks at some frequency. Flexible jobs can be found in  over 50 job categories. Flexible jobs come in various forms, including flexible schedules, alternative schedules, part-time schedules, freelance contracts, and telecommuting. In the early part of the 20th century, flexible work was considered our typical five-day workweek.
